THE #DLG+2 DISPATCH
(GLOBAL
EDITION)

as on 07th JANUARY, 2025 ~ TUESDAY

Hello Readers and Viewers,

Welcome to THE #DLG+2 DISPATCH / THE DATELINE GUJARAT DISPATCH, today its Tuesday, 7th January 2025, as I browse the global headlines, the domain is packed and over-flooded with the news of Resignation of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and allied developments!

News of Trudeau's resignation has over-shadowed all on-going news-developments from across the world including updates from the active warzones in Middle East, Eurasian and South East Asian Sub-continent.

(Picture Caption : Canadaian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as he steps down as Canadian PM)

In newsletters starting from West to East, if we see the chronology of events which unfolded, the news headlines on most of the online media platforms across the world were about Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's resignation, analyzing the developmet with possible reasons, critical pieces, opinion pieces, possible new faces, how the eminent leaders saw this development, followed by reactions on social media platforms, where voices of Elon Musk and Donald Trump were heard the most, as they not only mocked the resignation of Trudeau, but netizens somewhere even felt of the Canadian State being mocked by those leaders! However, Canada Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre reacts to Trudeau’s resignation, amidst which, Trump boasts about benefits of US-Canada merger, the comment from Trump comes at such times, when Canada is indeed battling not only political crisis, but is also battling one of the worst natural calamities(!) snowfall and floods - Cape Breton Highlands have more than two feet of snow with more to come whereas Newfoundland town under state of emergency following storm, flooding.

(Picture Caption : New Foundland Town in Canada under state of Emergency following storm, flooding)

In other developments from US, while now that Trump is certified of win as US Congress certifies Trump's presidential election win and is all to chair as POTUS (President of The United States), the biggest news comes of one of the news-outlets likely to fire its staffers(!) Washington Post could lay off dozens of staffers as soon as this week: Report, while the owner of the news-outlet Jeff Bezos kisses Trump’s ring…again! So, not a good news ofcourse but may be this news is even more shocking, where, on Winning: Trump plans to release over 1,000 J6 prisoners (those miscreants who targetted Capitol Hill on 6th Jan 21 -https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criminal_proceedings_in_the_January_6_United_States_Capitol_attack).

(Picture Caption : File Photographs of Capitol Hill Attacks in US as stagged on 6th January 2021, where 1,000 miscreants were arrested and are now in Jail, whom Donald Trump is expected to release as soon as he chairs as POTUS)

While even leaving White House, Biden seems to be adamant with his intentions as Biden to ban offshore oil, gas drilling in vast areas ahead of Trump term - so all in all its just not the political weather of US and Canada at its worst, but even the nature is at its avalanche, Federal and local governments close down as snow piles up in D.C. area and here are some pictures to witness the same - See photos of snow in Washington, D.C.

(Picture Caption : File Video Grab of Snowclad Washington DC)

As the northern Hemisphere is grappling with Weather and Political crisis, Southern Hemisphere also does not have some good news, while Mexican cartels turn to human guinea pigs in new dangerous phase of fentanyl crisis and A ‘Coyote’ abandons 25 Cubans in an area of mexico controlled by narcos with International Crisis Group: US-Mexico among 10 conflicts to watch in 2025 and China’s backdoor to America: The Mexican trade dilemma but amidst all situation, Mexico opens possibility of receiving non-Mexican deportees from Trump and Mexico preps for mass deportations of citizens from US under Trump administration. Strongly worded editorial pieces are the flavour in the Southern Hemisphere media where an Editorial: Immigration reform, not crackdowns, would help America thrive, but the point of worry amidst all these is that the Mexican peso posts biggest annual drop versus US dollar in 16 years.

(Picture Caption : Immigrants at US-Mexican Border queue to get back to Mexico, as Trump readies to chair as POTUS)

However, Caribbeans seems to have fresh air of optimism, as Dominica secures $34 million financing for 10-MW geothermal power project and Venezuelan opposition leader who claims to have defeated Maduro to meet Biden at White House, but yet the cloud of communism seems to have remained over-shadowed towards capitalism, as Chile files environmental charges against Anglo American copper mine.

(Picture Caption : Venezuelan Leader of Opposition Edmundo Gonzalez to meet Jo Biden soon)

So, what really worries the rest of the world amidst the dangerously cocktailed political and capitalism is the rise of Technogarchs like Elon Musk - as despite Musk gets good news a day after Italian PM visits Trump, he Fires off expletive and slur-laden outburst at Finnish grad student and he Reacts to Canadian PM Trudeau's resignation: ‘2025 is looking…'.

(Picture Caption : Donald Trump before chairing as POTUS meets Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni)

What really bothers Europe about Musk is as Elon Musk Suggests America Should 'Liberate' Britain From 'Tyrannical Government', there are concerns about Musk's remarks in European Union as well, while UK government urged to summon US ambassador for explanation over 'Elon Musk's interference' and now Musk having started endorsing political parties outside US even German chancellor responds Elon Musk’s AfD endorsement where few European Countires have registered their voice against 'political meddling of Musk' saying, Elon Musk’s political meddling is ‘worrying,’ says Norway’s PM!

(Picture Caption : Elon Musk's political meddling is rattling the European Union Leaders)

So, apart from Musk, what is rattling the headlines in European Media is the fact and the fear which worries many as Austrian far right leader receives mandate to try to lead a government for the first time since World War II, also Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has gone on trial in Paris, over alleged Gaddafi election funding charges, accused of taking millions of euros of illicit funds from the late Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi to finance his 2007 election campaign.

(Picture Caption : Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy goes for tiral in Paris Court over allegations and charges of having obtained election funding in millions in year 2007 from Libyan Leader Col Muammar Gaddafi)

African and Sub-Saharian Continent media continues to peddle the news of constant conflict across several nations, where Nigeria’s military launch offensive on new rebel group, as well US-Somali operation kills 10 al-Shabab militants and Soldiers killed as terrorists attack Nigerian military base in Borno

(Picture Caption : Militants and Security forces are at a constant conflict across African and Sub-Saharian Sub-continent)

Conflict hit Middle East and African (MENA) region has some worrying developments, as far as oil-production is concerned, as OPEC production dips in December as UAE implements supply cutbacks, while West Bank bus ambush leaves 3 Israelis dead, amidst all tensions, it is the US Filmmaker Michael Moore backs Gaza film 'From Ground Zero' amid US release.

(Picture Caption : OPEC [Oil Producing Exporting Countries] oil-production data for December 2024 is quite worrying as the supply cutbacks are implemented)

Moving towards Indian Sub-continent, there is some very good news from India on Indo-US ties as US to end restrictions on Indian nuclear entities to boost energy ties, Sullivan says, whereas this development is seen as India seeks to boost tech pact with US amid fears over Trump’s potential clawback! However, amidst all positive developments, Indian Administration equally gears-up for HMPV (Human metapneumovirus) as India reports 8 cases of HMPV pathogen driving spike in respiratory illnesses in China and India’s Health Ministry closely monitoring situation HMPV reports in China.

(Picture Caption : The U.S. government is in the process of removing restrictions on Indian nuclear entities, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said on Monday, in a bid to forge deeper energy ties with New Delhi and bolster a 20-year old landmark nuclear deal)

While as we browse the headlines from South East Asian News Outlets - the news headlines are largely seen dominating from the ready to trigger conflict zones where Taiwan says Chinese ship broke subsea cable in alleged sabotage as even Philippines deploys maritime and air assets to monitor China's 'monster ship' and North Korea fires suspected mid-range missile as Blinken visits Seoul, while on a positive note - Indonesia joins Brics bloc as full member, Brazil says.

(Picture Caption : File Picture of Chinese Coast Guard Vessel, as Philippines deploys maritime and ariel assets to monitor China's Monster Ship)

On the Pacifics front, Flight aborted seconds before takeoff it was reportedly Air New Zealand Airbus A321neo aborts take off after bird strike even in another development, Tyres of an Etihad Airways Boeing 787 bursted during rejected takeoff in Melbourne. Amidst the airborne alerts from Pacifics, what is really exciting the business fraternity is The Coca‑Cola Company to acquire Australian premium alcohol ready-to-drinkbrand! and While Surprisingly simple route to riches for many of Australia's millionaires - and it's not down to hard work, there is some shocking development reported from New Zealand about the work culture where - 'Hold them captive': Kiwi billionaire boss wants to ban staff leaving for coffee!

(Picture Caption : File photo of Employees grabbing a Coffee Cup - Kiwi billionaire boss wants to ban coffee breaks!)

The Frozen Polars are all set to remain in news with action from the new global grid which is shaping out from the Eurasian Sub-continent - Chinese-Russian air co-operation has Norad’s “full attention” and even the data as suggests that The flow of Russian gas on top for 2024 and to empower more logistics, Russia Sets New Arctic Shipping Record, Transports 38Mt in 2024 via Northern Sea Route with new set of nuke-powered ice-breaker vessels - like Icebreaker “Noosfera” arrived at the Akademik Vernadsky station for the first time this season
