CNG PRICES SPIKED BY 50 PAISA/MONTH IN LAST 4 YEARS : Recent spike of 1.50 rupees per kilo in Compressed Natrual Gas (CNG) by Gujarat Gas has hit the most to the gas-fuelled vehicles running in the state. The spike was slammed consecutively for the fourth time. Resulting studies and data revealed that CNG Prices in Gujarat increased by 26.08 rupees per kilo in last 48 month, resulting 50 paisa per kilo price rise every month! With a similar spike of 1.31 rupees per kilo reported on 1st January 2021, the CNG prices in Gujarat were pegged at 53.67 rupees per kilo, which with the recent spike effective from 1st January 2025 has touched the mark of 80.48 rupees per kilo! The worst affected due to the price-hike in CNG prices are the rickshaw drivers, who opted for the CNG versions of auto, considering it to lighten the fuel-cost as compared to fossil fuel which burnt their pockets, but with 80.48 rupees per kilo mark now CNG is almost seen at par with fossil fuel prices.
