(GLOBAL
EDITION)

as on 08th JANUARY, 2025 ~ WEDNESDAY

Hello Readers and Viewers,

Welcome to THE #DLG+2 DISPATCH / THE DATELINE GUJARAT DISPATCH, today its Wednesday, 8th January 2025, as I browse the global headlines, the domain is packed and over-flooded with the news headlines flashed from the Donald Trump’s press-conference where While taking questions from the press at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday,  Donald Trump proposes to rename Gulf of Mexico as Gulf of America(!) to trigger more nationalism in already patriotic US citizens and become heart-throb of such lot, taking cure from what happened in India, where the roads and cities have been renamed, Trump is all set to rename the entire Gulf(!) with intent and Make America Great Again (MAGA) Campaing, Trump seems to have kicked-off the very American sentiment of pride, by proposing to rename the Gulf of Mexico.

(Picture Caption : Elect-President Donald Trump addressed media at Mar-a-Lago and made some key announcements vide his intent to Make America Great Again [MAGA] campaign)

In similar developments, Donald Trump after having got the certificate of Win has started elaborating his plans for Greenland, Gulf of Mexico, Panama Canal at times he ruled out the possibility to use Military force to take Greenland and Panama Canal and at times he echoed the noise of US could use Military to seize other nations(!), where he even hints of Panama Canal plans are being discussed with Panama, as well roars on “all hell will breakout” – if Gaza hostages are not released, which compels us to take a view on a news-piece which reads, as to where US-China relations are headed under Trump-XI 2.0.

While the MAGA wave catches in America, there are yet road-blocks for Donald Trump before he is all set to Chair as POTUS as the Federal judge blocks Special Counsel Jack Smith from releasing final report, relating to his now-suspended investigations into President-elect Trump’s alleged 2020 election interference and alleged improper retention of classified records. This move has equally attracted criticism where ‘Doing what despots do’: Liz Cheney slams Trump for trying to ‘Conceal the truth’ with move to block Jack Smith report and even the Federal Judge who blocked the report had a legally and legit sustainable objective to block the report on request from Trump’s lawyer, as  one of the media report read, ‘To prevent irreparable harm’: Cannon gives Trump win in fight to block release of Jack Smith report on Mar-a-Lago case.

(Picture Caption : Meta plaque outside Facebook Headquarters in US, where the decision to end fact-check has been taken and the fact-check on Meta, Facebook will be replaced with X-styled community-notes)

While in other key news developments across the day, Meta, Facebook ends fact-checking program, announces replacement of fact-checking program with X-style community notes, Zuckerberg's announcement comes less than two months after Commissioner Brendan Carr, the senior Republican on the Federal Communications Commission and President Trump's proposed chairman, demanded Big Tech companies fess up about their censorship activities targeting conservatives under the Biden administration, meanwhile tech watchdogs warn Meta’s decision could cause a surge in disinformation!

Meanwhile, stay tuned and hooked for our key three-segments INDIA MARKET HOURS, THE GUJARAT NEWSWIRES and MAINSTREAM NEWSROOM updates from Indian Newsrooms, to follow across the day, as we will continue to update THE #DLG+2 REPORT / THE DATELINE GUJARAT REPORT throughout the day, with allied news-developments and happenings from India and from the State of Gujarat.

INDIA MARKET HOURS

On INDIA MARKET HOURS as the day progressed benchmark Indices on Indian Bourses - BSE SENSEX and NSE NIFTY tried to recoup the previous losses amidst the GDP estimates and Q3 earnings data.

However,
Indian Stock Markets session ended Wednesday's choppy session on a fat note as investors digested weak GDP estimates and awaited cues from the upcoming Q3 earnings season.

Global cues were mixed and the dollar rose as strong U.S. service sector activity and job openings data prompted traders to push back their expectations on when the Fed can cut interest rates this year.

A weakening rupee and rising oil prices also fuelled concerns about inflation and the outlook for interest rates.

The rupee fell by 9 paise to a record low of 85.83 against the greenback in early trade today, tracking an overnight rally in the dollar index and U.S. bond yields.

The Benchmark Indices BSE SENSEX ended in RED ZONE down 50.62 points at 78,148.49, after having hit a low of 77,486.79 earlier, as well NSE NIFTY also hit an intraday low of 23,496.15 before finishing down 18.95 points at 23,688.95.

The BSE mid-cap and small-cap indexes underperformed, falling around 1.1 percent each.

The market breadth was weak. On the BSE, 1,392 shares rose and 2,578 shares declined while a total of 96 shares were unchanged.

On Indian Bourses especially National Stock Exchange (NSE) - ONCG, ITC, Asian Paints, Dr Reddy, TCS were among the top gainers on while Apollo Hospitals, Trent, Ultratech Cement, Shriram Finance, Bajaj-Auto, were the top losers on Wednesday.
