Good Morning Viewers / Readers,

HAPPY NAVRATRI and FESTIVE GREETINGS.

Welcome to the First Trial Editions of THE GUJARAT DISPATCH!

THE GUJARAT DISPATCH is going to be a combo of news-letter detailing as to what is happening across the landscape of Gujarat along-with headlines of major events across the world and Indian Business Space.

Gujarat witnessed the Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations on Wednesday 2nd October 2024, in terms of Social occasions, prayer tributes and exhibition of collectibles with the theme of Mahatma Gandhi, amidst the Nathuram Godse V/s Mahatma Gandhi ideology which is part of the era in times of defying logical arguments with illogical viral facts!

However, as we cruise through the media spectrum Navratri and weather remains the flavour of the season.

With State Government’s nod to celebrate the longest dance-festival on earth till morning, adhering to the Supreme Court Guidelines of allowing loud-speakers till 12:00 midnight, single day Garba Events of pre-Navratri or Welcome Navratri celebrations had already kicked-off since Sunday.

However, the recent Kolkata Rape case and rape on minor in Dahod (in Gujarat) Administration is in alert mode at its peak with preparations to ensure women safety during the festival of Navratri are preparations are in full swing.

“Women Safety is the buzzword”, cops will be monitoring the Navratri venues via Drones, SHE (Female Cop) Teams in all alert mode to nab eve-teasers, parental guidance issued by cops to ensure that children share their live locations with parents and guardians to ensure safety of girls etc etc.

Following the TRP Game Zone fire accident at Rajkot which claimed several lives, deployment of fire equipment at venue, no-objection certification from fire department for the site, deployment of medical teams to ensure that any medical emergency is addressed in asap manner, respective District Government Authorities have issued mandatory guidelines to be adhered to by the Navratri Organizers.

Interestingly, Iran - Israel crisis is equally making impact on the Navratri festival here in Gujarat as several Garba lead singers and their troops including Falguni Pathak and Jigardan Gadhvi are stuck with flight schedules cancelled on several international flying routes, who were out of India to perform for the Pre-Welcome Navratri Programs.

Weather remains a prime concern, as weather forecasters are of opinion that Navratri festival may not witness anymore heavy showers or rains, light showers are expected to remain a matter of concern till third or fourth Navratra, otherwise Navratri is expected to remain weather-friendly this season.

In another development, reports of almost all dams of the state have been reported over-flown and have crossed its benchmark water level, including Sardar Sarovar Dam, where water level crossed its maximum level of 138.68 meters for the seventh time consecutively after 2017. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel had visited the site and in this calendar year beginning from 11th August 2024 till 51 days, the dam site was reported over-flown with 10,012 million cubic meters of water.

However, Kutch district has started experiencing mixed weather hot during day-time and cold during night and early morning with dewdrop pours at several places in weather conditions ranging from 22 degree Celsius to 38 degree Celsius!

Apart from the flavour of the season, what else is buzzing across the state, especially across the South Gujarat, Central Gujarat, North Gujarat and Saurashtra Region, lets cruise through those developments as well.

SOUTH GUJARAT

  • From South Gujarat, Surat textiles trade has a reason to cheer-up as the festival season has picked-up and logistics data suggest of movement of 250 truck loads of apparels, garments and textiles orders on daily basis, which has increased form 150 truck-load as reported till August 2024. Demand is being witnessed from several parts of the nation due to festive season and trade expects the demand to continue till December 2024. First quarter of calendar year 2024 was slag where hardly movement of 80 truck-loads was reported from January till March, demand was seen picking up from mid-second quarter and by the time third quarter kicked-off, “Happy Days are Here Again”.

  • In another similar development, Diamond Trade in Surat also has a reason to cheer, as Diamantaires unanimously have agreed on Indian Diamond Price Index (DPI), after Rapaport in monopolistic manner has started plummating diamond prices, after the Rapport it faced severe resistance from industry in India, especially the industry champions engaged in trade at Bharat Diamond Bourse (in Mumbai).  Presentation was made to the trade members where almost 250 plus trade members remained present and engaged with price index software maker Pratik Shah. Point of dispute was that rough stone prices are agreed by mining barons, while labs decide on certification and the third body decides on the prices of polished and cut stones sold as diamonds, so directly or indirectly the Diamond Polishing Trade has no say in the entire process of pricing, in such scenario Indian DPI will prove to one pivotal criteria. Vide Indian DPI all the important stakeholders including site holders, diamond manufacturers, traders, jewellers, buyers and sellers opionions are being considered, a kind of consultation and engagement process has been triggered, resutling the Indian DPI realms will not be controlled by any one or specific authority or stakeholder. Trade has unanimously agreed to adopt Indian DPI but has equally advocated that the process be moderated by trade body of caliber of Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).

  • On Information Technology front as well, Surat has a reason to celebrate, as Yonaljo, A Cloud Computing Company has announced its headquarters in Surat. Yonaljo is engaged into providing tech solutions for tourism and hospitality industry to the hotels vertical in specific areas. On occassion of shifting comapny headquarters to Surat, Yonaljo CEO Ejaz Sodawala while addressing the press in Surat said, "Yonalja is engaged in areas of providing cloud computing solutions at global levels and provides cloud computing based infotech solutions to 33,000 plus clientele across 170 countries." Entry of Yonaljo is seen as quite enterprising move within the infotech circuit of South Gujarat region and several other such operators are likely to follow the Yonaljo path in coming days, was the buzzword on the sideline of the press event.
