A Big Hello and A Very Good Moring to Readers and Viewers,

Today is THURSDAY, 10th JULY 2025, and here we go with our THE #DLG+2 DISPATCH / THE DATELINE GUJARAT DISPATCH, - THE BUSINESS BUZZ ...

It was indeed a very tragic day today for the State of Gujarat, where DATELINE GUJARAT is headquartered (at Rajkot - the gateway city to Saurashtra-Kutch region), the state woke-up to the news of Gambhira Bridge Collapse, which has claimed 11 lives. The collapsed bridge was constructed in year 1985 connected Saurashtra-Kutch via Central Gujarat to South Gujarat.

As i scanned the headlines and news follow-ups on same topic, which has been reported by international news outlets as well, what i read is that the Gujarat State's Political Head Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel aka Dada, who himself is academically qualified as a Civil Engineer has failed to address such infra challenges, especially  bridge collapse and poor quality road infrastructure, which gets frequently exposed in meagre rainfall and it is hard to decide in the state which has been tom-toming the Model of Progress and Development that, "Whether the potholes are on the roads or roads are in the potholes."

Meanwhile, lets take a look at what is buzzing across the World, Nation and State.

THE GLOBAL WRAP-UP

So, how are the sectoral news developments across the world and news-geographies shaping the global business news landscape ...

News-Commentary: Global Tensions, Trade Wars, and Political Shocks Dominate Headlines
The world is witnessing a whirlwind of events, from maritime attacks in the Red Sea to diplomatic shake-ups and judicial rulings across continents. Here’s a roundup of the latest global developments, with a hyperlocal lens on how these might resonate in India, where geopolitical shifts and trade policies often have ripple effects on our economy and diaspora.
Houthi Attack in Red Sea Sparks Maritime Concerns

Yemen’s Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for a deadly attack on a merchant ship in the Red Sea, as reported by Gulf Times. The assault, targeting a vital trade route, has raised alarms about global shipping security. For India, a major player in maritime trade with significant exports passing through the Red Sea, such disruptions could inflate shipping costs and delay supply chains. Indian traders in Mumbai and Chennai, already grappling with rising fuel costs, may face further challenges if the situation escalates. The Ministry of External Affairs might need to coordinate with regional partners to ensure safe passage for Indian vessels, especially given our growing trade ties with the Middle East.

Trump’s Tariff Threats Loom Large

Across the Atlantic, US President Donald Trump has announced tariffs on seven countries, set to kick in from August 1, according to Anadolu Agency and PBS Online. While major trade partners like India seem to have been spared for now, the move signals a protectionist stance that could indirectly impact Indian exporters. Markets in Delhi and Bengaluru are already buzzing with speculation about potential counter-tariffs or trade negotiations. Indian policymakers will need to tread carefully, especially as Trump’s tariff letters target smaller economies, which could destabilise global trade dynamics and affect India’s export-driven sectors like textiles and IT services.

French National Rally Faces Police Raid

In Europe, the headquarters of France’s right-wing National Rally party was raided by police in what the party calls a “harassment operation,” as per Fox News. This development could stir political unrest in France, a key EU partner for India. Indian students and professionals in Paris, numbering over 20,000, might face a tense atmosphere if protests erupt. The Indian embassy in France should stay vigilant, ensuring the safety of our diaspora amidst this political storm.

X Loses Its CEO, Raising Questions for Indian Users

Closer to the tech world, Linda Yaccarino’s resignation as CEO of X, after two years under Elon Musk’s leadership, has sent shockwaves through the platform’s user base, as reported by The Telegraph, Calcutta. For India’s millions of X users, particularly influencers and businesses in cities like Mumbai and Hyderabad, this leadership change could impact content moderation and advertising policies. Will Musk’s vision for X align with India’s digital priorities, or will we see a shift in how the platform engages with Indian audiences? The uncertainty is palpable in tech circles.

Trump’s Ukraine Arms Pause and Global Ripples

In a surprising twist, Trump has distanced himself from a decision to pause arms shipments to Ukraine, as noted by The Independent. Meanwhile, a report from Outlook India reveals the US Defense Secretary ordered the pause without White House approval, raising questions about internal coordination. For India, which maintains a delicate balance between Russia and Western allies, this could complicate our neutral stance on the Ukraine conflict. Indian diplomats in New Delhi will be closely monitoring how this affects global alliances, especially with Russia as a key supplier of defence equipment.

European Court Pins MH17 Downing on Russia

The Strasbourg-based European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has ruled that Russia was responsible for the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, as reported by Luxembourg Times and The Washington Times. This verdict, tied to the 2014 tragedy, could escalate tensions between Russia and the West. For the Indian community in Malaysia, where MH17 originated, this ruling might reopen old wounds, prompting calls for stronger aviation security measures at airports like Delhi’s IGI, which handle numerous international flights.

South Korea’s Political Drama Intensifies

In Seoul, a court has approved the arrest of former President Yoon Suk Yeol over a controversial martial law decree, as per Bowen Island Undercurrent. This political upheaval could affect South Korea’s stability, a key market for Indian electronics and automobiles. Companies like Samsung, with manufacturing units in Noida, might face supply chain hiccups if protests grow. Indian investors in Seoul should brace for potential market volatility.

Gaza Ceasefire Talks and Zelenskyy’s Vatican Visit

On the Middle East front, Trump’s meeting with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, reported by CBS News, signals hope for a Gaza ceasefire. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s meeting with Pope Leo XIV, covered by Anadolu Agency, underscores Vatican’s role in peace efforts. For India, a supporter of Palestinian statehood and a partner in UN peacekeeping, these developments could shape our diplomatic outreach. Indian NGOs in Delhi, active in humanitarian aid, might ramp up efforts if a Gaza ceasefire materialises.

Trump’s African Outreach and Putin Remarks

Trump’s invitation to five African leaders to the White House, as per BBC, and his remarks about Vladimir Putin, which stunned Russian state TV according to Miami Herald, highlight his unpredictable foreign policy. For India, with strong ties to African nations like Guinea-Bissau through trade and diaspora, this could open avenues for collaboration. However, Trump’s comments on Putin might strain India-Russia relations, a concern for policymakers in New Delhi given our reliance on Russian oil and defence supplies.

Other Global Flashpoints
  • Somalia Explosion: Al-Shabab’s claimed attack on a military training school, reported by euronews, underscores ongoing security challenges in the Horn of Africa, where Indian peacekeepers operate under UN missions.
  • Canadian Troops’ Plot: The arrest of Canadian troops for allegedly plotting to seize parts of Québec, as per The Washington Post, could raise concerns for Canada’s Indian diaspora, particularly in Toronto, where community leaders may push for clarity on security measures.
  • China’s Naval Move: China’s deployment of a Type 072A landing ship near Taiwan, noted by The National Interest, heightens Indo-Pacific tensions. India, with its strategic interests in the region, may bolster naval patrols in the Indian Ocean to counterbalance China’s moves.
  • NATO’s Taiwan Warning: NATO’s chief claiming Russia would target Europe if China attacks Taiwan, as per Anadolu Agency, could prompt India to strengthen its Quad partnership with the US, Japan, and Australia to ensure regional stability.
Hyperlocal Angle: India’s Stake in Global Stability

In cities like Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata, where global trade and diaspora ties are strong, these developments are more than just headlines. Indian exporters are already feeling the pinch from Red Sea disruptions, with freight rates rising by 10-15% in recent months. The Indian government might consider diplomatic engagements with Middle Eastern nations to secure trade routes. Meanwhile, Indian students and professionals abroad, from Paris to Toronto, need robust consular support amidst political unrest. In tech hubs like Bengaluru, X’s leadership change is a talking point, with startups wondering how platform policies might shift. As global tensions rise, India’s balancing act—between neutrality in conflicts like Ukraine and strategic alignment with the Quad—will be crucial.

These events remind us that in an interconnected world, a ripple in the Red Sea or a tariff in Washington can create waves in Mumbai’s markets or Delhi’s diplomatic circles. India must navigate these choppy waters with pragmatism and foresight.
Note: The views expressed are based on critical analysis of global events and their potential impact on India. Readers are encouraged to follow developments closely and verify information through trusted sources.

THE INDIA WRAP-UP

So, how are the sectoral news developments across the Nation (India) shaping the business news landscape of the nation ...

News-Commentary: A Whirlwind of Headlines from India’s Heartland to Global Stages
India’s news cycle is buzzing with stories that cut across courtrooms, corporate boardrooms, political battlegrounds, and even international partnerships. From a 13-year-old hotel brawl case resurfacing in Mumbai to a geopolitical twist involving Trump’s BRICS warning, the past few hours have thrown up a kaleidoscope of developments that reflect the chaotic, vibrant pulse of the nation. Here’s a dive into the latest updates, hyperlocal tidbits, and what they mean for India’s ever-evolving narrative.
Mumbai’s Star-Studded Legal Drama Finds ClosureIn a city where Bollywood and headlines often collide, the Saif Ali Khan Hotel Brawl Case has taken a fresh turn. A Mumbai court cancelled the bailable warrant against Malaika Arora, who was a prosecution witness in the 2012 incident involving Saif Ali Khan. The case, stemming from an alleged assault on an NRI businessman at a five-star Colaba restaurant, saw Arora dropped as a witness after she reportedly did not support the prosecution’s case. The episode, which involved Saif, his wife Kareena Kapoor, and others, has lingered in the courts for over a decade, a reminder of how celebrity scandals can stretch on in India’s legal system. For Mumbaikars, this is just another day in a city where glamour and grit coexist, but it raises questions about accountability when high-profile names are involved. Will this closure pave the way for a final verdict, or is this just another chapter in a saga that refuses to fade?
Maharashtra MLA’s Canteen Controversy Sparks OutrageIn another corner of Maharashtra, a Sena MLA’s assault on hostel canteen staff over “stale food” has led to the suspension of the canteen’s licence by the FDA. The incident, unfolding in a government-run hostel, has stirred up a storm, with locals in Mumbai’s political circles calling it a classic case of power misuse. The MLA’s outburst reflects a broader issue of entitlement among elected officials, especially in a state where food safety is a growing concern. Hyperlocal whispers from Mumbai’s Mantralaya suggest this could dent the Sena’s image ahead of key elections, as voters grow wary of such high-handedness. The FDA’s swift action is commendable, but will it lead to systemic checks on food quality in government facilities?
Corporate Jitters: Vedanta’s Stock Takes a HitThe corporate world wasn’t spared either, with Viceroy Research’s short-seller report sending Vedanta’s stock into a tailspin. The report, which likely raised red flags about the company’s financial health, underscores the vulnerability of Indian firms to global scrutiny. For investors in Mumbai and Bengaluru’s financial hubs, this is a wake-up call to dig deeper into corporate governance. Vedanta’s fall could ripple through India’s mining and metals sector, raising questions about transparency in an industry that’s critical to the economy. Will this trigger stricter regulations, or will it be business as usual?
Political Fireworks: Tharoor’s CM Ambitions and Kejriwal’s Nobel ClaimDown south, Shashi Tharoor’s public support as the United Democratic Front’s CM face in Kerala has set tongues wagging. The Congress MP’s suave diplomacy and social media clout make him a strong contender, but local Congress workers in Thiruvananthapuram are divided—some see him as an outsider, others as a unifying figure. Meanwhile, in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal’s claim to a Nobel Prize for governance drew sharp rebuke from the BJP, with AAP hitting back in its trademark combative style. Delhiites on the ground are chuckling over the audacity, but Kejriwal’s claim reflects his knack for grabbing headlines. Whether it’s Tharoor’s ambition or Kejriwal’s bravado, Indian politics remains a theatre of bold moves and sharper retorts.
Bengaluru’s Prison Scandal: Terror Links UnearthedIn Bengaluru, a prison psychiatrist’s alleged role in supplying mobile phones and security details to a terror convict has sent shockwaves. The NIA’s revelations in court highlight a disturbing breach in Karnataka’s prison system. For Bengalureans, already rattled by rising crime, this raises serious questions about oversight in high-security facilities. Local activists in areas like Koramangala are demanding a probe into prison reforms, fearing such lapses could embolden criminal networks. The NIA’s vigilance is crucial, but can Bengaluru’s authorities restore public trust?
Tech and Economy: Samsung’s Foldables and Dabur’s OptimismOn the tech front, Samsung’s new foldable phones have hit Indian markets, with prices that cater to the premium segment. Tech enthusiasts in cities like Hyderabad and Pune are already queuing up, but the steep costs might limit adoption in smaller towns. Meanwhile, Dabur’s Chairman predicts a consumption recovery by FY26, offering hope amid India’s inflation woes. For rural shopkeepers in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, this could mean better sales, but only if inflation cools down. These stories reflect India’s dual reality—cutting-edge innovation alongside economic challenges.
Global Footprint: Starlink, UPI, and Geopolitical TensionsElon Musk’s Starlink securing approval for operations in India is a game-changer for rural connectivity. Villages in Rajasthan and Assam could soon benefit, but local telecom players are wary of competition. Meanwhile, Namibia’s adoption of India’s UPI showcases India’s growing soft power. From Windhoek to New Delhi, this partnership could redefine digital payments in Africa. On the global stage, India’s role in the FATF’s terrorist financing report and its edge in the bulk drugs market signal a strategic shift. However, Trump’s BRICS warning and the US-Japan-India-Australia joint patrol highlight tensions in India’s balancing act between global alliances.
Hyperlocal Heartbeats: From Surat to OdishaCloser to home, a stray dog attack in Surat claimed a woman’s life, reigniting debates on animal control in Gujarat’s urban sprawls. In Odisha, a gruesome crime linked to an extramarital affair shocked locals, underscoring the dark underbelly of social tensions. Meanwhile, Bihar’s voter engagement drive is gaining traction, with rural voters in Patna showing enthusiasm for the Election Commission’s SIR initiative. These stories, from Gujarat’s villages to Odisha’s towns, reflect the hyperlocal challenges that shape India’s diverse fabric.
Policy and Progress: Niti Aayog’s Gaffe and Sanskrit Varsity’s New CoursesA Niti Aayog map blunder labelling Bihar as West Bengal has Mamata Banerjee fuming, demanding an apology. This gaffe, while seemingly minor, exposes the carelessness that can erode trust in policy institutions. In a brighter note, a Sanskrit varsity’s job-oriented courses aim to blend tradition with modernity, offering hope to students in Uttar Pradesh and beyond. These moves, from policy missteps to educational reforms, highlight India’s push to balance heritage with progress.
The Bigger PictureFrom Mumbai’s courtrooms to global trade talks, today’s headlines capture India at a crossroads. The Saif-Malaika saga and the Sena MLA’s antics reflect a society grappling with privilege and accountability. Economic signals, like Vedanta’s stumble and Dabur’s optimism, point to a nation navigating growth amid uncertainty. Globally, India’s UPI export and FATF contributions signal its rising influence, but Trump’s warnings remind us of the tightrope New Delhi walks. Hyperlocal stories—of stray dogs, voter drives, and crimes—ground these larger narratives in the lived realities of millions. As India charges toward 2026, these stories remind us: progress is messy, but it’s ours to shape.

THE GUJARAT WRAP-UP

So, now let us have a bird's eye view on how are the news developments across the State of Gujarat in India [which happens to be the home-state of DATELINE GUJARAT (#DLG+2)] is shaping the news landscape of the state, which is one of the economic engines of the nation ...

Gujarat in the Spotlight: Bridge Collapse Tragedy, Stray Dog Menace, and More
The past 24 hours have been tumultuous for Gujarat, with a series of events ranging from a catastrophic bridge collapse to hyperlocal issues grabbing headlines. The collapse of the 45-year-old Gambhira Bridge in Vadodara has sent shockwaves across the state, claiming at least 11 lives and leaving a trail of grief and outrage. Meanwhile, other developments, from a stray dog attack in Surat to educational reforms and environmental strides, paint a complex picture of a state grappling with both tragedy and progress.Gambhira Bridge Collapse: A Tragedy Foretold? On Wednesday morning, July 9, 2025, the Gambhira Bridge over the Mahisagar River in Vadodara’s Padra taluka gave way during peak traffic hours, plunging vehicles—including two trucks, an SUV, a pickup van, and an auto-rickshaw—into the river below. The death toll, initially reported at three, climbed to 11 as rescue operations continued late into the night, with fears of more casualties as water levels rise with the upcoming Poonam tide. Heart-wrenching visuals captured the desperation of survivors, with one mother’s cries of “Save My Son” echoing for over an hour as her child remained trapped in a submerged car. Another survivor pleaded, “My kids and husband are drowning, save them,” highlighting the human toll of this disaster.
The 40-year-old bridge, flagged for repairs by locals, was a known disaster-in-waiting. A local Gujarati outlet had reported its poor condition as early as April 2025, yet no action was taken, leading to accusations of negligence. Opposition leaders, including Gujarat Congress President Shaktisinh Gohil, have slammed the BJP-led state government, alleging “rampant corruption” as the root cause. Congress leaders claim the “hollow Gujarat Model” prioritises optics over infrastructure, with calls for Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s resignation growing louder. Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi expressed grief, announcing an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh for the deceased’s families and Rs 50,000 for the injured, while CM Patel has ordered a probe led by bridge construction experts.
The collapse has disrupted connectivity between Anand and Vadodara, forcing commuters to endure a 50-km detour. Survivors recall moments of horror, with one stating, “I knew they were dead…” as vehicles plummeted into the river. This tragedy joins a grim list of bridge collapses in Gujarat, with 141 lives lost in Morbi in 2022, raising questions about the state’s infrastructure maintenance.
Commentary: The Gambhira Bridge collapse is not just a structural failure but a systemic one. Locals’ warnings were ignored, and the government’s inaction has cost lives. The opposition’s allegations of corruption deserve scrutiny, but finger-pointing alone won’t fix Gujarat’s ageing infrastructure. The probe must be transparent, and accountability should extend beyond platitudes. For a state touted as a development model, such lapses are unacceptable.Stray Dog Menace in SuratIn a separate tragedy, a woman was mauled to death by stray dogs in a village in Surat on July 9. This incident underscores the growing stray dog problem in Gujarat’s urban and rural areas, with residents demanding better animal control measures. The attack, coming amid other local crime reports like a robbery-murder in Surat’s Sachin area, has heightened public safety concerns.
Commentary: The stray dog issue is a public health crisis that Gujarat’s civic bodies have long neglected. While animal welfare is crucial, human safety cannot be compromised. Surat’s municipal authorities must prioritise sterilisation drives and shelters to prevent such tragedies.Hyperlocal Updates: From Courts to CamelsCommentary: Gujarat’s diverse news cycle reflects its dynamic socio-economic landscape. The Cruise Bharat Mission and environmental efforts are commendable, but the state must address systemic issues like infrastructure and public safety with equal zeal. The Kharai camel rescue is a reminder of Gujarat’s unique ecological heritage, while educational reforms signal a forward-looking approach. However, incidents like the Rajpipla court controversy and Vasava’s legal troubles highlight underlying frictions that need resolution.ConclusionThe Gambhira Bridge collapse is a stark reminder that development cannot come at the cost of human lives. As Gujarat navigates its ambitions—be it tourism, education, or environmental sustainability—it must prioritise accountability and proactive governance. The state’s resilience is evident in its response to crises, from camel rescues to supporting salt pan workers, but the road ahead demands stricter oversight and a commitment to addressing local concerns before they escalate into tragedies.

THE WEATHER WRAP-UP

Last, but not least and as important as food, water, clothing and internet the four basic human needs are, is weather, so let us take a look at what are the weather cocks indicating and scan the important headlines across the world in weather space ...

News-Commentary: Extreme Weather Grips the Globe, India Braces for Its Own Challenges
As the world reels under a barrage of extreme weather events, from blistering heatwaves to devastating floods, the news paints a grim picture of a planet under strain. Closer to home, India’s own tryst with erratic monsoons and soaring temperatures makes these global stories hit a bit too close for comfort. Let’s unpack the latest updates, weaving in some hyperlocal context, and reflect on what this means for us.
In London, a BBC star has called the Underground the “bowels of hell” during a heatwave, with temperatures hitting 40°C in the packed trains. The absence of air-conditioning, due to the ancient infrastructure, has commuters gasping for breath. This sounds eerily familiar to Mumbaikars sweltering in local trains during May’s pre-monsoon heat or Delhiites packed into non-AC Metro coaches during power outages. With India’s urban transport systems creaking under population pressure, maybe it’s time we push for climate-resilient upgrades—better ventilation, anyone?
Across the Mediterranean, Turkey is sweating through a brutal heatwave, with temperatures set to climb even higher. This mirrors the scorching summer in Rajasthan and Gujarat, where mercury levels crossed 45°C in June. Turkish authorities are urging people to stay hydrated, much like the advisories issued in Indian cities during heatwaves. But with water scarcity looming in parts of Maharashtra and Karnataka, are we doing enough to ensure access to drinking water during such crises?
Shifting to the Americas, drone footage shows Texas’ San Gabriel River swollen after deadly floods, with homes and vehicles swept away. The tragedy at Camp Mystic, where inspectors had signed off on emergency plans just days before the deluge, raises questions about preparedness. This hits home when you think of the recent floods in Assam and Bihar, where despite annual warnings, thousands are displaced every monsoon. In Guwahati, locals report waterlogging even after light rain, pointing to clogged drains and poor urban planning. Isn’t it high time our civic bodies get serious about flood-proofing?
Meanwhile, over 1,000 scouts were evacuated from camps in Poland ahead of heavy rainfall, a proactive move that saved lives. Contrast this with the chaos in Uttarakhand last monsoon, where pilgrims were stranded due to landslides. Maybe our disaster management teams could take a leaf out of Poland’s book and prioritise early evacuations in vulnerable areas like Kedarnath or Badrinath.
In Greece, strong winds are fanning wildfires in Oropos and Kilkis, forcing evacuations. This echoes the forest fires in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand earlier this year, which destroyed acres of greenery. With climate change making such events more frequent, shouldn’t we be investing more in fire-resistant forest management and community awareness drives in Shimla or Nainital?
Back in the US, conspiracy theories are swirling around the Texas floods, with some right-wingers claiming they’re man-made. This isn’t new—remember the WhatsApp forwards during Kerala’s 2018 floods blaming “cloud seeding”? It’s a reminder to double-check sources before sharing news, especially in India, where misinformation spreads faster than a monsoon downpour.
On a lighter note, Vogue’s guide to linen skirts for summer 2025 offers a chic way to beat the heat. Indian fashionistas in Bengaluru or Chennai are already rocking khadi and cotton kurtas, proving you can stay cool and stylish. Maybe our desi designers could take inspiration and roll out affordable, breathable collections for the masses?
Elsewhere, Ruidoso, New Mexico, faces flash flood warnings a year after wildfires ravaged the area. This cycle of fire and flood is a stark warning for places like Wayanad in Kerala, where deforestation has made landslides deadlier. Local activists in Wayanad are now pushing for reforestation—could this be a model for other Indian hill stations?
In Chicago, flash floods submerged vehicles, prompting water rescues. This sounds like a typical July day in Mumbai, where roads turn into rivers after an hour of rain. BMC’s pre-monsoon desilting drives in Mumbai are often criticised as inadequate—perhaps it’s time for a tech-driven approach, like real-time drain monitoring?
Across the pond, NHS Surrey issued heatwave advice after a Met Office warning. In India, states like Odisha and Andhra Pradesh have heat action plans, but implementation is patchy. In Bhubaneswar, locals complain of inadequate cooling centres. Can we scale up these facilities before the next summer hits?
Finally, over 7,000 people were evacuated in southwest China amid heavy rainfall, with five still missing. This scale of displacement is all too familiar in India’s northeast, where the Brahmaputra’s fury displaces lakhs annually. In Majuli, Assam, residents are demanding stronger embankments—will the government listen?
The Bigger Picture: These stories, from London’s sweaty tubes to China’s flood-hit villages, scream one thing—climate change is here, and it’s ruthless. India, with its diverse geography and dense population, is on the frontline. Whether it’s heatwaves in Delhi, floods in Mumbai, or fires in Dehradun, we need action, not just advisories. From upgrading urban infra to busting fake news, it’s time to get our act together. After all, when the planet’s throwing tantrums, we can’t afford to be caught napping.
Hyperlocal Updates: In Delhi, the MCD has announced a drain-cleaning drive ahead of heavy rain forecasts. In Chennai, TNERC is urging residents to conserve power during heatwave-induced outages. In Kolkata, the KMC is distributing ORS packets to combat heatstroke. Stay safe, folks, and keep an eye on local weather alerts!
