THE #DLG+2 DISPATCH (GLOBAL EDITION)
as on 2nd JULY, 2025 - WEDNESDAY
__________________
A Big Hello and A Very Good Moring to Readers and Viewers,
Today is WEDNESDAY, 2nd JULY 2025, and here we go with our THE #DLG+2 DISPATCH / THE DATELINE GUJARAT DISPATCH, - THE BUSINESS BUZZ ...
I continue to camp at DWARKA (the last mile coastal town in the State of Gujarat in India) and as i sit down to write the dispatch, in some interesting hyperlocal news development, demolition and enforcement action on encroached space, is making the headlines with knock-to-knock updates in the hyper-local news space.
While the Congress District Head of Devbhoomi Dwarka-Jam Khambhaliya constituency and Farm Leader in Gujarat Pal Ambaliya, is leading the group of agitating hawkers and street vendors opposing the administration's move triggering enforcement action against encroached occupants, making representations to the administrative authorities to ease on the action.
It is also learnt from some of the most impeccable sources associated with the day-to-day administrative activities in the town of The Chief Minister's office at Gandhinagar, the state capital has also taken the note of agitative action in Dwarka.
On the other hand while the agitating crowd is learnt to have made representations to the ruling political faction Bharatiya Janta Party's (BJP) State Legislator (Member of Legislative Assembly ~ MLA) Pabubha Virambha Manek, there has been a lukewarm response which has been read that, "You guys did not come here first and instead have already approached the opposition party members with your matter, os now the ball is in their court and not ours ...", whereas few impeccable sources tell #DLG+2 of MLA having back-channeled the support to the administrative to go hard on the encroachers and ensure clean space in the Hindu Pilgrim Place.

"The matter has taken a very different political turn," reads a local counsellor who told #DLG+2 of the talks between administration and local hawkers or street vendors have reached a deadlock a kind of frozen point where they (agitators) are not ready to move to the allocated three space within the city at 1) Ravla Lake, 2) Bhadkeshwar and 3) Behind Swaminarayan Temple, instead are arguing of the business being affected, if moved from their existing point of business.
While there are advocacy groups within the small coastal town few advocating fiercely for the daily bread-winners terming them "rightful in their demand", while few arguing that encroachment is creating traffic menace and other social menace in the Hindu Pilgrim place due to its traditional narrow structured lanes and roads, all leading to the temple and ofcourse a potential market space, as well.
But, at the end of all the arguement there is a strong speculation that, "This action actually means to let the local residents be habituated to such demolition and encroachment enforcement action which clearly leads to the fact that when the Corridor Project in Dwarka is fired on all cylinders, such action bull-dozing such encroachments does not raise the eye-brows and is taken with the pinch of salt ...", explains a local shop-vendor engaged in food and beverages business.
Meanwhile, lets take a look at what is buzzing across the World, Nation and State.

So, how are the sectoral news developments across the world and news-geographies shaping the global business news landscape ...
Global Headlines Stir Global Tempers, Climate, and Conflict — Trump’s Senate Victory, Musk Deportation Row, Gaza Aid Row, and Worsening Global Heatwave Dominate News Cycle
In a razor-thin Senate showdown, Donald Trump’s controversial ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ passed by a single vote, with Senator J.D. Vance casting the tiebreaker – a key political moment that solidifies Trump’s legislative push amidst his ongoing presidential campaign (The Telegraph, Calcutta).
Meanwhile, tensions flared across political and tech circles as Trump reignited his feud with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, hinting at the possibility of Musk’s deportation following their increasingly personal spat. Trump’s “head back to South Africa” jibe has sparked widespread backlash, as he warns Musk might “lose a lot more” than just public goodwill (India Today, The Week). A pro-Trump PAC has even been floated to oppose Musk’s growing political influence (The Independent).
On the global climate front, Europe remains on high alert as an unrelenting heatwave continues to push northward, triggering extreme weather warnings and public health advisories. Authorities in France, Germany, and the Nordics have sounded the alarm as temperatures soar to record highs (Gulf Today).
In Southeast Asia, Thailand’s political scene was rocked after the Constitutional Court suspended Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra over a leaked phone call, fuelling speculation of judicial overreach and destabilising the fragile coalition (PBS Online).
Elsewhere, Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron finally broke their silence in a phone conversation — their first since 2022 — centred around the Ukraine war and potential diplomatic offramps (Anadolu Agency). This comes even as Ukrainian drones hit a Russian defence plant in Izhevsk, killing three and injuring dozens (Meduza).
Meanwhile, in the Middle East, international NGOs have urged a halt to operations of an Israeli-supported aid group in Gaza, citing neutrality breaches and growing humanitarian concerns in the war-ravaged region (The Independent). On a related military note, a US ambassador suggested B-2 bomber strikes in Yemen following recent missile launches on Israel, raising tensions further across the region (Anadolu Agency).
On the financial front, US Fed Chair Jerome Powell admitted the central bank would have cut rates had it not been for Trump’s trade tariffs—adding another layer of friction between economic policy and political strategy (Anadolu Agency).
From climate to conflict and political theatre to tech feuds, the day’s developments underscore a world grappling with internal divisions and external heat — both literal and figurative. Hyperlocal concerns also echoed these themes, with mating 'lovebugs' swarming towns, fueling pest control crises in the US (The Independent).
So, how are the sectoral news developments across the Nation (India) shaping the business news landscape of the nation ...
India in Focus: From Strategic Warships to Sacred Pilgrimage—A Day of Contrasts and Critical Developments
In a significant boost to India's naval capabilities, Russia has handed over the final foreign-sourced stealth frigate to the Indian Navy, marking the end of an era in Indo-Russian defence cooperation while reinforcing India’s blue water ambitions. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who also addressed a forum alongside US host and veteran Pete Hegseth, reiterated New Delhi’s commitment to deeper defence industry partnerships with global players, even as indigenisation remains a key goal.
While the waters of diplomacy sailed smoothly, India’s spiritual shores were also abuzz. Jammu & Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims amidst heightened security and infrastructure reviews. The NHAI convened a last-mile prep meeting to ensure seamless logistics during the pilgrimage season.
On the political front, Bihar's Opposition alliance had to defer its scheduled meeting with the Election Commission over the special electoral roll revision—an issue that could impact the upcoming 2024 general elections. Meanwhile, the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government, perhaps in a populist outreach ahead of polls, cleared a ₹4,000–₹6,000 monthly allowance scheme for educated youth.
Education, however, remained a sore spot nationally. Despite affirmative action, a worrying number of reserved faculty positions remain vacant in central universities, highlighting systemic inertia and raising questions for both the UGC and the Ministry of Education.
In Mumbai, IndiGo took a leap towards global skies with the launch of its maiden long-haul flight from Mumbai to Manchester, adding muscle to India’s growing aviation ambitions. Conversely, Air India passengers faced terror in the skies as a Vienna-bound flight plunged 900 feet mid-air, raising fresh concerns about inflight safety protocols.
Back on land, India’s judicial corridors were active. In Karnataka, the High Court rebuked X (formerly Twitter) for not deploying responsible officers in compliance with court directives. Meanwhile, the Madras High Court sought detailed reports in the custodial death case of a temple security guard in Sivaganga, putting pressure on CBI and local police alike. In Kolkata, medical reports deepened the legal noose around a rape accused after damning physical evidence surfaced.
In Delhi, civic tragedy struck as police booked a private school administration in connection with the death of a seven-year-old boy. Also, the city is preparing for its first-ever artificial rain event this July to battle severe air pollution—a technological first for India’s capital.
In the world of banking, Saraswat Bank has proposed acquiring New India Co-operative Bank, subject to RBI clearance—a move that could consolidate regional banking strength. Meanwhile, the Competition Commission of India has ordered a probe into Asian Paints over alleged abuse of dominant position—adding another chapter to India Inc.'s compliance challenges.
Internationally, PM Modi is all set to embark on a five-nation diplomatic tour starting Wednesday, with defence and technology cooperation expected to dominate discussions. Parallelly, Japan engaged diplomatically with both India and Australia in separate Foreign Minister-level dialogues, aiming to tighten Indo-Pacific strategic ties amid China’s assertiveness.
Lastly, a bizarre incident in Thane involved a chemical tanker colliding with an unidentified vehicle—fortunately with no casualties, but raising alarm bells about hazardous cargo movement in urban areas.
As India treads forward—militarily assertive, economically ambitious, politically turbulent, and spiritually devout—it is clear that every headline contributes to the ever-complex narrative of the world’s largest democracy.

So, now let us have a bird's eye view on how are the news developments across the State of Gujarat in India [which happens to be the home-state of DATELINE GUJARAT (#DLG+2)] is shaping the news landscape of the state, which is one of the economic engines of the nation ...
Gujarat Roundup: Monsoon Showers, Political Currents, and Judicial Ripples Define the Week
By Dateline Gujarat Newsroom | July 2, 2025 | Ahmedabad
As Gujarat welcomed July, the state witnessed a surge in rainfall, stirring both relief and caution, while political winds, courtroom controversies, and economic reforms added colour to a busy news cycle.
🔶 Heavy Rains Lash Gujarat, Orange Alert Issued
Gujarat recorded its wettest June since 2015, bringing much-needed respite for farmers but also raising the spectre of floods in low-lying areas. The Indian Meteorological Department issued an ‘orange alert’ for several districts including Surat, Valsad, and Gir Somnath for Wednesday and Thursday. Ahmedabad city saw traffic snarls, while Narmada district reported waterlogging in tribal areas.
🔷 Virtual Hearing Turns Virtual Controversy
In a bizarre turn, a senior lawyer appeared for a virtual Gujarat High Court hearing holding a beer mug and speaking on the phone. This prompted suo motu contempt proceedings from the bench. The incident has triggered wider debate in legal circles about maintaining courtroom decorum in digital proceedings.
📢 Arvind Kejriwal’s ‘Gujarat Jodo’ Push after Visavadar Win
The Aam Aadmi Party’s victory in the Visavadar bypoll has buoyed its Gujarat cadre. CM Arvind Kejriwal, now on a three-day visit, launched the Gujarat Jodo campaign, terming the win a “glimpse of the changing mood” in the state. AAP’s Gopal Italia attributed the win to “infighting among BJP ranks”.
🏛️ Court Rebukes Municipal Body over Religious Structure Demolition
The Gujarat High Court issued a contempt notice to Junagadh civic officials over the demolition of a dargah amid ongoing tensions around heritage preservation. The court termed the action “unconstitutional”, further heating up debates around religious and public infrastructure conflicts.
🏙️ Urban Infrastructure & Economic Boosts
In a series of major announcements:
-
The state capped speed limits on congested city roads at 30 kmph to curb accidents.
-
A unified transport authority has been formed for Ahmedabad and Surat for better urban mobility coordination.
-
The government waived off 80% stamp duty on property transfers without sale deeds, encouraging smoother title regularisation.
-
Tata Group was allotted 10 acres in Dholera SIR near Ahmedabad for residential housing development.
🌱 Clean Energy Surge from Gujarat to Rajasthan
Adani Green Energy crossed the 15,800 MW milestone with six new wind-solar projects in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Meanwhile, NTPC Green Energy’s 64.7 MW solar unit in Gujarat began operations, furthering India’s renewable ambitions.
🥣 Farmers and Fraud: Aid and Accountability
As onion prices slump, the Gujarat government announced a ₹124 crore relief package to support distressed farmers. In a separate development, doctors at a government hospital are under the scanner for allegedly siphoning ₹1.87 crore from clinical trial funds into personal accounts.
📈 Corporate Footnotes: Green Gas and Startups
Gujarat Gas Ltd extended its rally, gaining 0.4% in its fifth straight session. Simultaneously, a new wave of doctor-led startups is emerging across Ahmedabad and Vadodara, blending healthcare and tech innovation.
👮 Top Cop’s Tenure Extended, Customs Crack Down
On his scheduled retirement day, Gujarat’s DGP Vikas Sahay received a six-month extension, ensuring continuity in state policing. Meanwhile, Ahmedabad Customs seized smuggled goods worth ₹163 crore, including gold and electronic items, pointing to growing vigilance at ports and airports.
🛣️ Tragedy on Pilgrim Trail
Four pilgrims from Gujarat lost their lives en route to Kedarnath as their vehicle fell off a bridge in Uttar Pradesh. The state government is coordinating with UP authorities to bring back the deceased.
🧾 Political Undercurrents: Congress vs AAP vs BJP
While AAP rides high on its Visavadar win, internal tremors within Congress are giving the party both hope and headaches. BJP’s silence post-bypoll results has drawn ire from AAP leaders, as noted in ‘Gujarat Confidential: Silence’ sparks fury.
🔍 Judiciary Keeps Pressure On
Separately, a CBI court convicted a former bank manager and four others in a 2006 fraud case, sentencing them to five years in prison, signalling that financial crimes from the past are still catching up.
—
📌 Bottom Line: Gujarat is soaking in more than rain — political churn, urban reforms, judicial rebukes, and green energy thrust are redefining its development and governance narratives. From Dholera’s smart housing push to courtroom decorum in the age of Zoom, the state remains a microcosm of India’s modern dilemmas and emerging opportunities.
Last, but not least and as important as food, water, clothing and internet the four basic human needs are, is weather, so let us take a look at what are the weather cocks indicating and scan the important headlines across the world in weather space ...
Europe’s Searing Heat Meets Global Weather Havoc: From Flights Cancelled to Flood Alerts in Asia
As Europe reels under a record-shattering heatwave, the ripple effects of extreme weather are being felt across continents—from grounded flights and closed schools in France, to emergency flood alerts in Asia-Pacific and India.
The ongoing European heatwave is not only testing infrastructure but also public health resilience. According to EU climate experts, June 2025 is poised to be one of the warmest on record, with temperatures soaring beyond 35°C in several countries. This unprecedented heat has put Europe on high alert as the sweltering conditions shift northwards.
The effects have been devastating on the ground. In a tragic incident, a toddler in France died after reportedly being forgotten inside a car during 35°C heat. Meanwhile, France has shut down over 2,000 schools and public monuments to shield students and tourists from the brutal temperatures.
Flights have not been spared either. Airlines cancelled several routes amid stormy weather compounded by thermal turbulence. Back in the UK, where heatwaves feel more punishing due to housing infrastructure and humidity, emergency services have deployed gritters—usually meant for snow—to prevent roads from melting.
An American living in the UK even echoed the sentiment that British heatwaves are “worse” because of inadequate air conditioning and ventilation.
The full list of European countries under heatwave alert spans from southern Spain and Italy to Germany and the UK. Temperatures in the south are expected to climax in the coming days, according to meteorological outlooks.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the globe, flash floods and heavy rainfall are taking a toll. In India, authorities have issued a flood alert in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district as local rivers overflow. In Oman, the city of Salalah experienced its first monsoon showers of the season, prompting a public safety advisory.
In New Zealand, authorities in the South Island have begun preparing for a “worst-case scenario” as flood-hit areas brace for another round of heavy downpours.
As climate events collide globally, the northward push of Europe’s heatwave and the surge of rains across Asia and Oceania serve as a stark reminder that no region is immune. Whether it’s heat-induced school closures in Paris or flood threats in Ramgarh, 2025’s monsoon and summer convergence is testing human adaptation and infrastructure resilience like never before.
