Today is TUESDAY, 25th FEBRUARY 2025, and here we go with our THE #DLG+2 DISPATCH / THE DATELINE GUJARAT DISPATCH.
__________________
So, what is there in today's THE WORLD REPORT, as i scan the online and offline news-platforms and try to understand the pivots, what i see is that news headlines across the world is dominated with US intervention to ensure that, "The Russia-Ukraine war comes to a (peaceful) closure!", where US sides with Russia to vote against the UN Resolution on Ukraine in major policy shift(!) and more surprising is the confidence Trump instills on the fact that Putin would accept European peacekeepers in Ukraine(!) and emphasizes saying, Ukraine war could end 'within weeks', and the entire action has been in spotlight, while POTUS Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron meet at Oval Office, as Europe pleads for continued help with Ukraine.
Macron backs Trump's Russia outreach but seeks 'American backup' on troops, Macron sought to persuade Trump to stick by Kyiv, insisting that Ukraine “must be involved” in talks and Trump, Macron spar over Ukraine funding during Oval Office meeting. The conversation between both leaders was quite interesting, especially when The French president interrupted Trump to deliver fact check on Ukraine and corrected him on European Assistance to Ukraine. As the French President was meeting the POTUS, Russian consulate in France was targetted with explosive projectiles on 3rd anniversary of Ukraine Invasion, Russia terms the incident in Marseille, Frace - a 'terrorist attack'(!)
However, as the (peaceful) closure of Russia-Ukraine war jaggernaut gets diced on the global chessboard, UN rejects US resolution on Ukraine war that downplayed Russian role, with this European win in UN clash with US over rival resolutions is garnering headlines!
In the meantime, "Ukraine could join EU before 2030", says European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, where World leaders gathered to show support for Ukraine with Washington wavering on backing the government in Kyiv.
Meanwhile, Poland's support for Ukraine shifts as war enters its third year as hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian refugees entered Ukraine and now Poles are becoming rather less welcoming. With a presidential election coming up, candidates have been surfing on anti-Ukrainian sentiment, suggesting that they are a burden on the Polish economy, whereas employers and economists say they’ve actually been a driver of growth.
Amidst all chaos, EU leaders to hold special summit on Ukraine on March 6, 'We are living a defining moment for Ukraine and European security,' says EU Council President.
While edit pieces and video podcasts on the same issue are quite insightful, In a Video podcast on YouTube the talks have been on Ukraine-Russia war with a question mark, "Whether Can Europe Stop Putin on its own?" and an edit piece which terms - Europe's painful awakening to the rise of Global Fascism, as it reads that, For the past few weeks, and even more so in recent days, a state of paralysis seems to have gripped the European political landscape. Yet, Trump, Putin, and other far-right leaders have never hidden their ambitions. They have openly stated them for years, without pretense. It must be said plainly: their project is a fascist one.
In an interesting development from Canada, as the Russia-Ukraine war having entered third anniversary is that, Ukraine gets first tranche in frozen Russian assets from Canada, as the nation pledges $5B in seized Russian assets for Ukraine on war anniversary.
What is worrying the world most is the critical health condition of Pope Francis, Media reports read of Pope Francis still critical but shows ‘slight improvement’, Vatican update claims, The Pope resumed work in the afternoon and in the evening made a call to the Catholic parish in Gaza. However, Pope Francis resting after early stages of kidney failure detected and Pope is awake, resting on 10th day of hospitalization after early stages of kidney insufficiency detected.
The Pope is ‘not out of danger’ - as Sepsis fears in Pope’s pneumonia battle as Holy Year celebrations start, while Vatican announces nighttime prayers for the health of Pope Francis on St. Peter’s Square and Vatican to host nightly rosary for Pope Francis in St. Peter’s Square as prayers pour in from around the world.
In updates from the Oval Office (White House) and allied activities of POTUS, Trump names right-wing podcaster as FBI deputy director, Nominee for Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino Has a History of Questionable Comments, Bongino has made controversial comments throughout his public career.
In the meantime, As Trump praises Elon Musk's justify-your-job email while agency heads resist, Donald Trump Praises Elon Musk's "Justify-Your-Job" Order As "Genius" Move, Elon Musk has asked federal workers to submit five bullet points explaining what they accomplished in their jobs over the last week, and Personnel office tells agency chiefs that employee response to Musk-inspired email ‘voluntary’, probably in response to same action there is a reaction split-wide-and-open in a public docmain, where AI-generated video of Trump & Musk takes over US govt screens - "Long Live the Real King" — staffers at Department of Housing and Urban Development are greeted with fake video showing US President Trump rubbing and kissing billionaire Elon Musk's feet.
Trump alleges ghost workers are stealing billions from federal funds, Republican president says Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency has found "hundreds of billions of dollars in fraud", suggesting federal paychecks are going to non-existent employees, while in an investigative media report as reported Blaze News investigates: Critics say Trump's mass firings of probationary bureaucrats are unlawful. They're wrong.
In the meantime, US Senate is likely to see the sparks of action as 'The battle's coming': Republicans reportedly sweating as Trump admin eyes next move, The few Republicans who still oppose Trump gather in search of a path to oppose him and Conservatives from across the country filled a ballroom a few blocks from the White House and lamented that the United States is abandoning the ideals that forged a great nation. Some attendees donned red hats with various inscriptions mocking President Donald Trump and his “Make America Great Again” movement.
In an interesting and a major rejig and shake-up at a leading US media outlet, MSNBC makes it official: Joy Reid loses show and Jen Psaki moves into new primetime slot amid sweeping lineup change, The network also canceled several other programs and expanded others, leaving a number of on-air personalities to shift to new roles, reacting to the move, Over 10,000 Rally On Emergency Zoom Call To Support Joy Reid After MSNBC Cancels ‘The ReidOut’, As the final episode of 'The ReidOut' approaches, supporters are urged to tune in and call MSNBC.
While in updates from #Caribbeans, #LatAm and Europe, While House Democrat ‘rooting’ for Canada, Mexico in Trump’s trade war, Mexico Studies Tariffs on China in Bid to Strike Deal With Trump.
Whereas European media is buzzing with the headlines on German Elections, Germany’s Next Chancellor Inherits a Country in Crisis, Incoming German chancellor Friedrich Merz is working overtime to warn Germans that the time of stagnation that prevailed under the former chancellor Olaf Scholz must come to an end, as a result an edit piece titled, "Germany’s election – what happened and what might come next" nails it perfectly, in the meantime, Germany's left-wing BSW party considers challenging Sunday's election results, After narrowly missing 5% threshold, BSW leaders say they will examine possible legal moves, as many Germans abroad could not cast their ballots as they did not receive their postal voting documents.
Amidst all the action from Germany the concerns are more on How will Germany’s Merz mark shift by betting on an EU less dependent on US and amidst that is the Merz v Trump: seen as the start of a new Europe? so to understand all the action from Germany, this makes a good read as to, Who is Friedrich Merz? Meet the man set to be Germany's next chancellor, after his conservative bloc came out ahead in German legislative elections with almost 30 percent of the vote, Friedrich Merz must now forge a coalition government. Merz has pledged to revive the ailing economy and crack down on undocumented migrants at home while urging European unity abroad.
Headlines on African sub-continent are yet driven by conflict in Democratic Republic of Congo and formation of new government in Sudan, where Congo-Kinshasa: People Are Trapped in a Climate of Insecurity Amidst Clashes in Uvira, resulting to which Former leader Joseph Kabila blames Tshisekedi's leadership for rising tensions in eastern DRC, The former head of state believes that Félix Tshisekedi aims to become the "absolute ruler of the country" by silencing the opposition and resorting to "intimidation, arbitrary arrests, and extrajudicial executions," and responding to the allegations, DRC President Felix Tshisekedi 'plans to form government of national unity' in response to the (M23 rebel) crisis, in the meantime, UN warns of 'escalation in Sudan' as RSF moves to form rival government in the nation, The RSF's weekend move comes nearly two years into a war that has displaced over 12 million and triggered the world's worst hunger crisis, per the UN.
South Pacific news-headlines are yet dominated with the Chinese Naval Ship's presence in Tasman Sea and so what is really making the read from South Pacific region is, ‘Extremely capable’ weapons on Chinese warships off Australia’s east coast, NZ government says, so the big question is What are the Chinese naval vessels doing in the Tasman Sea? Prime Minister Anthony Albanese backs navy to deal with Chinese warships off Australia, in the meantime - Beijing rejects Canberra's accusations of live-fire drills off the Australian Coast, but New Zealand foreign minister to question Chinese naval activity in Beijing visit.
